On making your own rules, seasonal shifts & writing / not-writing. Skip to the bottom to read about my next retreat (9th Oct), ethical marketing and an online summit you’ll (probably) want to attend. |
Hello you.
Most of us have grown up hearing we should be consistent, push through no matter what, and always be striving for more.
But resting, changing your mind, being content with ‘enough’? Well, you’ll never get anywhere with that attitude…
Yet we are cyclical. We aren’t consistent…
I’ve shared for years how powerful cycle-tracking is as a tool for women running businesses (this is where I’d link you to a blog I’ve written, if I’d written one!) and for anyone who isn’t experiencing internal cycles, you’ll probably find your energy shifts with the moon - if you’re thinking “hmm that’s a bit woo for me” it turns out the police are known to staff up at full moon, ready for the inevitable ”lunacy” that shows up!
And so when I started writing my letters to you, I already knew I couldn’t commit to weekly; there’s always one week a month when I just cannot share, even though this breaks all the official patriarchal rules around How To Run Your Business Properly.
And ’monthly‘ felt too long - I have a LOT to say!
So I settled on “weekly-ish” 🙌
Hey, it’s my life & my business: my rules. You get to do this too.
Because, despite the adverts and the well-written sales pages, there is no one right way to do anything!
Knowing that I get to make my own rules has been incredibly supportive over the last two months; as you’ll know in my last update, covid wiped out my August (in the best way) and September has been a flurry of back-to-college, a very nourishing visit with my dearest friend and a sunshine holiday to attend the wedding of some beautiful people in my world.
August shifted something inside me and September has been all about seeing where that shift is taking me… within this waiting it’s been more peaceful inside my head, and I’ve written less in the last 8 weeks than I have for years.
But the seasons are shifting again, and as what’s-next* is becoming clearer I’m feeling the urge to write again, maybe even weekly-ish as advertised...! Here, in your inbox, on my blog (and on a new more-personal blog I think) and in podcast form too.
*a lot of my whats-next is going to be project-based (I work better this way) including mentoring for charity CEO’s, group coaching and, yes, meadow restoration, or collaborative (a new & joyful thing for me!) including retreats and… more (but this is still to reveal itself!) plus I am still taking on a very limited number of 1-1 clients for coaching or accountability (reply or book a call to find out more)
So, here’s to the shifting seasons!
Hello Autumn, with your freshening breezes, beautiful leaves & of course, the invitation to harvest and celebrate 🍂🎃

And speaking of sharing my work with you…
If you missed me talking about ethical marketing in a recent-ish letter, here’s a quick reminder of where you can go to be inspired and supported in this area… thanks to my marketing guru (lovely Karen at Goodness Marketing) I’ve been reading up, and finding it really eye-opening how many ‘regular’ marketing practices are less-than-ethical, so I made the pledge and you can call me out if you see me break it 💚 are you joining me? |
Finally, here’s a little more of where you can find me in October…
Soulful Sales Summit I’m speaking about boosting your self worth at Ruth Poundwhite’s Soulful Sales Summit (for Sensitive Business Owners) in early October and… you’re invited! Ruth has been in my world for the longest time, as an inspiration and as my mentor. We’re very similar in our approach, and if you’re a sensitive business owner, I think you’ll love her work, if you don’t already!
PS. The summit is completely free, but there will be a special offer to upgrade to the Soulful Sales VIP Bundle after you register - it gives ongoing access to the replays, a private podcast feed and downloadable slides for many of the presentations, plus a whole bundle of courses and resources from the speakers (including my Reclaim Your Spark course 🌟) in total valued at several thousand dollars (based on actual selling prices). So register for free here and keep your eyes peeled for the upgrade 👀 |
And hey, thank you for being in my world and allowing me into yours; I do still love writing my letters to you and it's a real privilege to be here.
With love
Sarah xx

Helping women shift self-doubt and be themselves at last.
Hello you, I wonder if, like me, you're just too warm to do much right now? So, today is a short letter with a very simple invitation… I’d love it if you could change "sorry" to "thank-you" 🙏 And because you’ll want to know why (I don’t blame you!) I’ll tell you ;) It’s this. Far too often I hear myself, and others, apologising for… … taking up space and for showing emotion… Neither of which are sorry-worthy, ever. 🤔 Maybe you learned that it’s not “lady-like” to take up too much space or...
"What if it goes wrong?" is a REALLY good question to ask. Chatting with a friend recently, she was telling me how negative she felt about a family decision. Not the decision itself, but this; all her husband kept talking about was how brilliant it would be if they went ahead. And he dismissed her question entirely. "What if it goes wrong?" went unanswered. She felt like the doom-and-gloom part of the team, and she couldn't settle with the decision. As humans we are biased towards negativity...
Today's letter is a short one, about finding balance. It's about recognising that we're humans and things get out of balance sometimes. Life happens… business, kids, your health, weather, traffic… there will always be something to rock the boat one way or another. All of these things (and more) can make it difficult to keep everything exactly as you might want it, or exactly as you've got it planned. It can take up energy and time stressing about where you’re at versus where you’d like to be...
